<<How to Apply for Membership>>

1 Anyone who whishes to become a member of the Japanese Association for Canadian Studies (JACS) should complete
(1) Membership Application Form and
(2) Personal Information Sheet
and mail them to the Secretariat of JACS, which is currently located at

2 The Membership Application Form and Personal Information Sheet are available in the PDF format on this site.
Please print out these forms when you wish to make an application.

3 The application must be made with the recommendation of one Full member of JACS. Please obtain the recommender's inkan in case the recommender is Japanese, or s signature in case the recommender is non-Japanese.

4 If you wish to apply for Student Membership, please attach a copy of your student ID or proof of registration.

5 Applications are evaluated and approved by the Executive Council four times a year. When an application is pproved, the notice will be sent directly to the applicant.

6 The initiation package, which will be sent after the approval, will contain documents concerning fee payment. The fees are 7,000 yen per annum for a Full Member and 3,000 yen per annum for a Student Member. Please transfer the applicable amount by Postal Money Transfer.
If an application is accepted during the period between the annual conference (usually in September) and March 31, The amount of 2,000 yen is collected to cover the cost of the Annual Review and other administrative fees.

<<Membership Obligation>>

1 A newly admitted member will be subjected to the Constitution of the Japanese Association for Canadian Studies.

2 A Member may receive the Annual Review, Newsletters, and information concerning the Annual Conference and regional meetings. If the dues remain unpaid for 3 years, this service will be terminated.

3 A Member must send a written notice to the Secretariat in the following cases.
(1) When the name, address, or affiliation changes.
(2) When the status for membership changes from "Student" to "Full."
(3) When a Member wishes to withdraw from the membership.
(A person remains a Member and must pay the dues until the request for withdrawal is approved.)
